NEW YORK — Prague High School valedictorian Kaitlin Nootbaar and her father, David, talked with Matt Lauer on The Today Show Thursday morning.

Kaitlin said she has learned a valuable life lesson through her diploma dilemma.

She said she will always stand her ground and stand up for what she believes.

Prague High School is withholding her diploma because Kaitlin said “hell” in her valedictorian speech at graduation.

The school said they approved her speech, where she wrote “heck.”

The school said they will give her the diploma if she apologies.

Kaitlin said she does not plan to make a formal apology but she is sorry for all the trouble the incident has caused the school and her teachers.

She just started her college at Southwestern Oklahoma State where she earned a full-ride scholarship.
