WASHINGTON – A Washington doctor has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old patient.

And now, police are worried it may have happened to others.

Multiple photos online depict John O’Brien as a family eye doctor and family man.

But tonight, police picture him in a different light.

“Mr. O’Brien is present and in custody,” Andrew Alsdorf, Deputy Snohomish County Prosecutor said.

Everette police say it happened here when the 10-year-old girl came in for a routine eye examination.

They say O’Brien dilated the girl’s eyes and told her father to wait outside the exam room.

While her father waited in the waiting room, O’Brien allegedly asked the girl to take off her shirt and pants, police said.

After the girl did what her doctor asked, O’Brien then took pictures with his cell phone.

Later the girl told her parents what happened and they took her to a hospital for an examination.

Police say seven images of the girl were found on O’Brien’s phone.

“He is a significant flight risk,” Alsdorf said.

During the arrest, O’Brien attempted to toss additional evidence.

“There was a hard drive and a phone tossed into his vehicle,” Alsdorf said.

Police have issued a warrant to scour those devices for more photos that may lead to other victims.
