SAN DIEGO, Calif. – A California doctor is facing time in prison after he admitted that he sexually assaulted patients.

On Thursday, 68-year-old Jeffrey Joel Abrams pleaded guilty to eight counts of sexual penetration of an unconscious person, three counts of sexual battery and one count of possession of child pornography.

Prosecutors claim Abrams sexually assaulted patients and took photos of their naked bodies when they were treated at the only free health care clinic in the area, according to KNSD.

When Abrams was arrested in November, investigators claimed to have found more than 1,000 explicit photos of women on his work phone.

At his sentencing, he could face probation to more than 25 years in prison.
