NEW YORK – Donnie Wahlberg shared his own hurricane experience on Twitter Thursday evening, asking Vanilla Ice to stay safe.

Against the advice of meteorologists, the Florida governor and Shep Smith, the rapper declared on social media that he was going to “ride out” Hurricane Matthew.

“Dear @vanillaice – I stayed home during #hurricanesandy and it was a bummer. Be careful during #HurricaneMatthew! Be smart & be safe bro! ❤️,” Wahlberg tweeted, attaching a video of bowls and other items floating in brown water that flooded the kitchen during the deadly, 2012 storm.

People are concerned for the “Dancing with the Stars” contestant after he posted this on Facebook and Twitter:

The Category 4 storm, which has already killed at least 269 people in three Caribbean countries, barreled toward Florida Thursday.

“We are already starting to see the impacts (from Hurricane Matthew), and it’s a monster,” Gov. Rick Scott said at an evening news conference. Scott told residents in evacuation zones to go inland. “You still have time to leave. Get out. There’s no reason to take a chance.”

Even the president tweeted at the evacuation holdouts:
