(KTVI) – Eating instant noodles multiple times a week may increase your likelihood of developing heart disease, diabetes and stroke, especially for women.

According to KTVI, studies have shown that BPA can interfere with hormones, specifically estrogen.

The study, in the August issue of The Journal of Nutrition, found that women who ate instant noodles at least twice a week were 68 percent more likely to have metabolic syndrome.

The noodles did not seem to have the same health effects in men.

The New York Times reports this maybe be because women report their diet more accurately.

It could also be because postmenopausal women are more sensitive to saturated fat, carbohydrates and sodium.
