EDMOND, Okla. – If you want to burn a few calories before sitting down for your Thanksgiving meal, a local race is attempting to help you stay in shape while running your way into the Guinness Book of World Records.

The 2013 Edmond Turkey Trot is attempting to set a record for the largest recorded multi-venue running event to take place in one day.

The current record stands at 116,086 participants.

Last year, the Edmond 5K run and one-mile family wobble hosted 2,000 participants.

All proceeds from the race will be donated to Turning Point Ministries, a mission that helps families in Edmond pay for their housing.

The turkey trot will take place Thursday, Nov. 28 at 8 a.m. in downtown Edmond.
