UPDATE: Officials say 17-year-old Anji Dean was found safe after going missing for two weeks.

Authorities say they are conducting an investigation into her disappearance, which includes the crime of human trafficking.

CAMAS, Wash. – A Washington state teenager, who has been missing for nearly two weeks, is gaining national attention.

Authorities say 17-year-old Anji Dean left behind a chilling journal entry just before she vanished on June 23.

“Before she had left, she told a few people like teachers, counselors and a couple people in law enforcement that she was involved in something and was in over her head. That with a few other things really, really lead us to believe that she is not alone. She’s 17, someone is hiding her,” said Lynda Jorgensen, Anjis’ mother.

The journal entry said, “If you’re reading this, I’m either missing or dead.”

Now, her parents are fearful that she’s the victim of a human trafficking ring.

They say she simply walked out of their home and disappeared, leaving behind her cell phone, ID and bank card.

“We have no idea where she is or who she’s with and she can’t be doing this on her own, so we’re really, really afraid for her,” said Jorgensen.

“It says right there, ‘If you’re reading this, I’m missing or dead.’ That’s all I need to hear,” said Michelle Bart, president of Women’s Coalition Against Violence and Exploitation.facebook
