ARCADIA, Okla. - Crews have recovered a child who drowned near Arcadia.

Around 12 p.m. on Friday, the Oklahoma City Fire Department said that its crews were responding to a possible water rescue.

Officials were told someone may have drowned at an area along Choctaw Rd., in between Route 66 and 2nd St.

"The two boys were just playing down here and one that can`t swim went in the water and never came back out. It was really as simple as that but just so tragic," said Benny Fulkerson with the Oklahoma City Fire Department.

Firefighters started sweeping the creek, looking for the child.

"They were doing all of the right things," said Fulkerson "It's just extremely difficult with water that`s this murky and absolutely zero visibility."

Officials said the child was recovered around 1:54 p.m.

"You just need to show your love to these people because they`re going to need it, because it`s never, ever easy when you lose a child," said Fulkerson.
