Update: Mooreland grassfire contained; Red Cross Evac Center closes in Woodward

Update (7:10 p.m., 11/26): The Evacuation Center for Woodward has been closed. The Red Cross will continue working with local and state officials to respond to fires across the state as requested. “If you or someone you know has been affected, please call your local Red Cross chapter,” a Red Cross news release states.

Update: Officials in Northwest Oklahoma say the fire outside of Mooreland has been contained. Two structures have been lost. The Oklahoma Red Cross has set up an Evacuation Center for residents of Fargo and Mooreland in the Pioneer Room of the Woodward City Hall.

WOODWARD CO., Okla. (KFOR) – Residents in and around Mooreland are being evacuated as fire crews battle a large grassfire southwest of town.

Officials in Woodward County are working to battle the blaze around EW 41 and Hwy 50.

Woodward County Emergency Management says there have been no injuries. Mooreland Nursing Home has been evacuated to the Woodward Hospital. The Pioneer Room is open in Woodward as a Red Cross Evacuation Center for residents. Two structures have been lost.

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a fire warning at the request of Woodward County Emergency Management for Woodward County.

Evacuation area: Highway 50 and North-South County Road 212, East-West County Road 41,  East-West County Road 34, and North-South County Road 217.

You are asked to evacuate east or southeast. Evacuate quickly and follow all safety instructions from local emergency management officials. Do not drive into smoke.

Due to the fires in Northwest Oklahoma, a Red Cross Evacuation Center has been opened up at Woodward City Hall (in the Pioneer Room) 1218 9th Street, Woodward, OK.
