UPDATE: Location change for extra auditions.

TULSA, Okla. — An Oklahoma film, starring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, is looking for extras and scheduled begin shooting here in the Sooner State late September.

Freihofer Casting will hold an open call for extras for the upcoming feature film “August: Osage County.”

Open casting call for extras:
Saturday, Aug. 18
10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (No appointments are necessary)

Tulsa Promenade Mall
(Upper level of the mall, across from The Gap)

4107 S. Yale Ave.
Tulsa, Okla.

Though the original location was the Doubletree Warren Place, the event was moved to the Promenade Mall to accommodate more parking and accessibility.

“We want to ensure a fun, positive, comfortable experience for everyone involved and our friends at the Promenade Mall were happy to accommodate us,” Oklahoma Casting Director Chris Freihofer said.

Freihofer urged that people should not call the mall for information regarding this event.

“The mall will not have additional information for anyone,” he said. “Instead, this information will be on the casting hotline at (405) 310-4391.”

Oklahoma Casting Director Chris Freihofer said the film will need various extras during the first few weeks of filming.

“We do not need babies or toddlers but we would like to add anyone else to our pool of possibilities,” Freihofer said.

“August: Osage County” is a drama written by Oklahoman Tracy Letts and directed by John Wells.

It tells the story of The Weston family who come together when their alcoholic patriarch goes missing.

The film is based on Letts’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play.

Extras will be paid to appear in the film.

Freihofer said the open call is an opportunity to find, photograph and catalogue all people interested in working in the film in non-speaking roles.

“We will ask everyone to provide us with contact information and clothing sizes, and we will take everyone’s pictures. The whole process should take less than 10 minutes,” he said.

Casting decisions will be made throughout filming and those selected to appear in the film will be notified sometimes a day or two before they are needed, according to Freihofer.

He indicated filming is scheduled to be Mondays through Fridays with no weekend filming.

The majority of extras would only be needed for one day but those days are scheduled to be eight or more hours.

“Do not list a day as available unless you can be on set the entire day and even into the evening,” he said.

Those unable to attend the open call in person are invited to submit by mail or email.

“Please include a recent, clear photo and tell us your name, mailing address, email address, all phone numbers, height and all clothing sizes, including shoes. Please list the age of anyone under 18 and please list all days you would be available,” he said.

Email submissions can be sent to AugustExtras@gmail.com

Hard copies can be sent to August Extras c/o Freihofer Casting, 3750 W Main St,  Five Park A, Norman, OK 73072.
