Fallen Marine’s mother receives priceless gift 9 years after son’s death

HOUSTON, Tex. – When Lance Corporal Fred Maciel died in 2005 in Iraq, his fellow marines signed a flag that was supposed to be given to his family, but somehow it got lost.

However KHOU reports, thanks to a Beaumont,Texas couple more than 9 years later, the flag finally made it home.

The Brown family tracked down Patsy Maciel and met her personally to place the flag in her arms.

So, where was that flag all this time?

Nobody knows.

The flea market where the Brown family found it buys items from abandoned mini-storage units.

They’re thinking it might have ended up forgotten in one of those units.
