OKLAHOMA CITY -- A northwest Oklahoma City family returned home from the movies Saturday to find their home had been burglarized.

Police are looking for the suspects, but do not have a good description.

Even with a neighborhood watch, the thieves slipped in and out of the home with high dollar items.

The Butler family told NewsChannel 4 they noticed something was wrong as soon as they pulled onto their street.

"My husband immediately noticed the car was missing out of the driveway," Shelli Butler said.

Things became more disturbing when the family stepped inside their front door.

"All the drawers were open. Closets were open," Shelli said.

Sneaking their way into the kitchen window, the crooks took off with a long list of things.

Along with their red Toyota Camry, the thieves snatched a dirt bike, laptops, and a hunting bow.

Even with their dogs on watch, nearly $30,000 worth of belongings were stripped away from the Butler’s home.

One of the most valuable things taken was a camera filled with memories.

"It's very frustrating to know that someone has been through your home and seen all your things," Shelli said. "But you know, no one was hurt so I can be thankful for that.”

They are thankful, but now more on guard. And they have a message for the people who wrecked their home.

"I want to forgive them and say that, you know, if you’re really that desperate, I'll help you. We'll find a way to get the things you need, but you just don't take from people. It's not right. It's not fair,” Shelli said.

The Butlers say they are installing a security system and warning their neighbors.

If you have any information on the burglary, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.
