EDMOND, Okla -- When an Edmond family returned from a trip, they knew someone had been visting their home.
Lights were on, doors were open and mysterious, black Kenneth Cole high heel shoes were left behind!
Neighbor Mary Howell said what makes this burglary especially creepy, nothing was taken.
Howell said, "In some ways, I find that spookier. Someone more or less was squatting at the home."
The intruder apparently even took the family car for a joy ride.
There were no signs of forced entry.
Edmond Police Department Spokesperson, Jenny Monroe, said, "Obviously someone has been inside that house without permission. This family recently moved in and hadn't had the keys changed. So there could have been someone out there who has a key to the house."
Locksmith Ed Humes said getting locks re-keyed when you buy a new home is critical, especially on older houses that may have had multiple owners.
Humes said, "I mean, there is no telling how many people have keys to those houses and people don't even know it."
Mary Howell is now exploring the possibility of forming a neighborhood watch in her community.
She said, "I don't know if there is one. There should be and maybe that's something we need to look into."
