SAND LAKE, Mich. – Bud has provided entertainment for his owner’s family for years.

“That bird picks up everything and anything, and it’s got the filthiest mouth around,” Lillian Duram told WOOD-TV.

Now, relatives believe the African grey parrot may be the only witness to his owner’s murder.

Last year, police say 45-year-old Martin Duram was shot and killed in his home. Officers also found his wife, Glenna, suffering from a gunshot wound to her head.

Court documents obtained by WOOD-TV claim that police suspected Glenna Duram of shooting her husband five times before turning the gun on herself.

However, she told police that she didn’t kill her husband and doesn’t remember anything from that night.

At this point, no one has been charged or arrested with Duram’s murder but relatives say an unlikely witness may help close the case.

Bud the parrot was in the couple’s home at the time of the shooting and can’t stop talking about it.

Relatives recorded Bud mimicking an argument between a man and a woman.

While they couldn’t make out the argument, there was one phrase that came out loud and clear.

“Don’t f****** shoot!” Bud said.

Family members say they aren’t sure if the parrot will be able to be used as a witness or evidence in the crime.

However, they say they are simply looking for closure.

Prosecutors say they are waiting for the investigation to be complete until they file charges in the case.
