VALLEJO, Calif. - A California man is facing felony animal cruelty charges after he allegedly shot his neighbor's dog with a slingshot.

Just days after Kathy Zander installed security cameras around her home, she caught something shocking on tape.

Zander says she felt that her neighbor, 69-year-old Daryl Crockett, was trying to hurt her Maltese poodle mix, so she installed cameras on the outside of her house.

Those cameras allegedly captured Crockett leaning across his fence, aiming and shooting at her dog with a slingshot.

"I heard this blood-curdling cry. I ran to the door, and Tippy was just hurdled in a ball," Zander told FOX 40.

Immediate surgery saved Tippy's life, but he lost his left eye.

Neighbors say Crockett was angry about Tippy's barking.

Tippy is now recovering and if convicted, Crockett faces up to a year behind bars and a $20,000 fine.
