MANCHESTER, N.H. – Police in New Hampshire say a father is facing charges after letting his children live in a “hell hole.”

Officers told WBTV that as soon as the door to the apartment opened, they could smell dog and human feces, rotting food and garbage.

Authorities say they found a 2-year-old naked in her crib, shivering from the cold and smeared with feces. A 4-year-old boy was tied to the top of a bunk bed and also covered in feces and urine.

Police arrested James Grenier for child endangerment and the children were placed with a relative.
