UPDATED: Fire crews have the fire under control as of 3:26 p.m.

CHOCTAW, Okla.  - Choctaw fire crews are working with several other departments to get a large fire under control in the 1500 block of S.E. 15th street near the intersection of S.E. 15th and Choctaw Rd.

Crews were called to the area after receiving a call reporting heavy smoke.

Oklahoma City, Choctaw, Harrah, Newalla, Nicoma Park, Jones and Midwest City fire departments are all on scene working to contain this fire.

Crews have been on scene fighting this blaze since 1:25 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Authorities have blocked off S.E. 15th street due to heavy smoke impairing driver's eyesight.

Residents of the area say the fire may have been caused by a 20 acre plot of land where the grass has grown a few feet high and is covered in brush.

A big concern for residents right now is the wind because of it's ability to pick up in embers and carry them long distances.
