OKLAHOMA CITY – Firefighters were forced to evacuate some homes and businesses after a gas line was hit in northwest Oklahoma City.

On Monday morning, emergency crews rushed to the 3500 block of N.W. 15th St. after learning that a gas line had been hit.

As a precaution, they began evacuating nearby homes and businesses.

In all, 20 homes and 17 people were evacuated.

Oklahoma City fire officials say a contractor digging in the area accidentally hit the medium-pressure gas line.
