OKLAHOMA CITY – Firefighters were called to an abandoned building on Wednesday afternoon after a fire was reported in the structure.

Shortly before 2 p.m., fire crews were called to a vacant building near I-40 and Meridian Ave.

When they arrived, they could see flames shooting from the roof.

Oklahoma City fire officials say they were able to easily get inside the building because a back door was left open.

Fire crews say they requested an additional engine company to come to the scene for manpower. In addition to battling the fire, they are also having to battle the summer heat, so they want to make sure none of the firefighters are overcome by the sweltering temperatures.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the blaze.
