OKLAHOMA CITY – On Sunday’s Flashpoint, the panel welcomed State Schools Superintendent Janet Barresi to discuss the recent loss of the No Child Left Behind waiver and what that means for Oklahoma schools.
Last week, the Department of Education did not extend the NCLB waiver.
The change in designation came in response to the state’s decision to repeal the Common Core State Standards and replace them with college and career ready standards developed by Oklahomans.
Janet Barresi talked about what it all means for Oklahoma students, schools, and educators.
Janet Barresi talked about what she will do after her term is up in January.
She also discussed whether she’ll be making another political run.
The panel also talked about a company based in Oklahoma that hopes to solve the world’s clean water crisis in the next 10 years.
There is an upcoming banquet to support the local company that’s having a worldwide impact.
