Oklahoma Flu related deaths continue to rise

OKLAHOMA CITY – Health officials say four more Oklahomans have died from the flu.

The flu has been especially bad in the Sooner State this season.

A total of 98 people of died from the flu since September 2014, which shatters last season’s total of 71.

In all, the Oklahoma State Department of Health says 2,143 people have been hospitalized with the virus.

As NewsChannel 4 has reported, this year’s flu shot has only been about 23% effective because the predominant strain, H3N2, has developed a variation since the vaccine was made last year.

But experts still encourage you to get your flu shot.
