OKLAHOMA CITY – More than 5,000 volunteers are preparing for 750,000 visitors to this year’s festival, which will take place April 22-27.

It’s one of the strongest traditions at the award-winning Festival of the Arts is the team of volunteers who join Arts Council of Oklahoma City staff to bring food, music, art, culinary demonstrations and more to the annual Festival of the Arts.

“We have a tremendous group of volunteers who are committed to giving festival goers a one-of-a-kind art experience,” said Kathy Bookman, Festival of the Arts 2014 co-chair. “Some have worked behind the scenes of the festival for more than 20 years. It’s a very unique and impactful experience.”

Volunteers belong to more than 40 committees focused on the visual, performing and culinary arts.

“A high level of collaboration among our thousands of volunteers is key to making the festival successful year after year,” said Chuck Cohn, Festival of the Arts 2014 co-chair. “We feel a strong sense of community and enjoy working together to make this world-class festival a reality.”
