OKLAHOMA CITY – Leaders in the community are coming together to feed the hungry with the help of a food truck.

“Every time you see this truck, it won’t be a hot dog truck or a taco truck,” Adrian Young, cofounder of Made Possible By Us, said. “It’s whatever that chef’s inspired to put out.”

Once a week, chefs with “A Good Egg Dining Group” will create meals for the public and those in need. Whole Foods will donate all of the ingredients. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Regional Food Bank.

“Every dollar that’s raised from the food truck, that’s going to provide five meals for hungry Oklahomans,” Angie Doss, with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, said.

The idea for the “Food For All” truck to feed the hungry, stems from a Twitter campaign launched earlier this year asking Oklahomans what would make our state a better place.

After 1,000 tweets, Adrian Young knew the food truck was the right choice.

“Everybody in the community contributed thoughts about what would be enriching or what would be an improvement around Oklahoma City, and social good efforts and hunger was one of the top rated things that people had to say,” Young said.

That’s because hunger is a big problem in the state. In fact, it’s one of the worst in the nation.

“There is a link with struggling with hunger and poverty and Oklahoma is one of the most underemployed states, so it’s not the fact that people aren’t working one or two jobs trying to make ends meet, but it’s the fact that they’re underpaid,” Doss said.

Young wants to curb the startling trend.

She is hoping to raise $30,000 in a month to get her food truck rolling.

If you’d like to help the “Food For All” campaign, “Bleugarten” is holding a fundraiser Oct. 15.
