DENVER, Colo. – A former Denver Broncos tight end thinks the NFL should permit players to smoke marijuana.

Nate Jackson says he thinks the league will eventually change its policy regarding the drug.

Jackson argues marijuana is a safer alternative for injured players and credits smoking pot for not getting addicted to pain pills himself.

The league says if science ever shows that the only drug that could help injured players is medical marijuana, they would consider allowing it.
