OKLAHOMA CITY - A former teacher of the year finalist was arrested at school, accused of sexual battery against a student.

52-year-old Paul Bianchi is the JROTC instructor at John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City.

An unidentified student told police it all started when she asked Bianchi for a ride home after honor guard practice on Wednesday.

She told investigators Bianchi told her to wait for him in his classroom.

"She's laying with her head down on the desk, relaxing. He comes in and asks her if she is sick. She says no, she is just tired and keeps her head on the desk. At some point, he begins rubbing on her back and shoulders and reaches around and touches her inappropriately on her chest," said Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department.

According to police reports, the student asked Bianchi "what was he doing" and that's when "he took his hands off her."

The student said she noticed the classroom door was closed and the lights were off.

The report goes on to say Bianchi commented "he has better stop before he does something foolish."

The student said he dropped her off at home and called 30 minutes later to "check on her."

A student reported the incident Friday.

We went to Bianchi's home to get his side of the story, but no one answered the door or returned our repeated phone calls.

Oklahoma City public schools released a statement about the incident, saying:

"School administrators contacted Oklahoma City police immediately, and an internal investigation by Oklahoma City public schools was conducted as well with quick action taken by administrators to remove the instructor from the classroom."

Bianchi is on paid leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
