Travelers advisory for several counties: Winter storm warning issued for southern parts of Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA –  Travelers advisory for: Canadian County, Oklahoma County and Cleveland County.

Winter storm warning for the southern parts of the state.

The snow will begin late Saturday night in SW Oklahoma, toward Altus.

Heaviest accumulations will be in the south of the Oklahoma City metro. (This may change.)

Early Sunday, sleet may mix in with snow in south central and southeast Oklahoma before changing to all snow.

The heaviest snowfall will occur from 6:00am to noon along a narrow corridor in southern Oklahoma.

Heaviest accumulations will be found south of I-40 and the Oklahoma City metro targeting cities such as Altus, Lawton, Ada, Chickasha, Duncan, McAlester, and Pauls Valley. Storm totals in these areas will be in the 3-6” range with a few local higher totals possible.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for southern Oklahoma from 9:00 Saturday night to 6:00 Sunday evening. Right now, this warning does not cover any of the Oklahoma City metro, however snow from 1-2” can be expected by early Sunday afternoon.

Another round of heavy snow and mixed precipitation will move through Oklahoma Monday night and Tuesday.
