OKLAHOMA CITY – Watch your step!

A crook fell flat on his face as he tried to steal a cash register from a local business.

The fumbling felon was caught on camera robbing a store Thursday morning near NE 13th and Lottie.

The thief moved pretty fast.

“He looked like he was normal and all of a sudden changed his mind,” said business owner JJ Rashid.

Surveillance video shows JJ’s uncle behind the counter.

The suspect asked for some cigarettes and then made his move.

“As soon as he walked down there, the guy grabbed the whole thing,” said Rashid.

After yanking the entire register off the counter, the suspect ran out the door and fell flat on his face.

“He took a fall by the door but still had the till in his hand and took off with that,” said Rashid.

Following the tumble, the not so nimble thief quickly picked himself up and ran away.

“The guy outside in the car kept yelling ‘What are you doing? What are you doing? Just leave it and let’s go,'” said Rashid.

JJ just hopes his surveillance pictures prove good enough to lead to an arrest.

“I don’t know what words to use, but its a bad thing and sad thing,” said Rashid. “We hope they find the person and this never happens again.”

The good news, the clerk did not get hurt during the robbery.

Anyone with information on the man seen in the video is asked to contact Crimestoppers at (405) 235-7300.
