DALLAS, Texas-- The hearse of one of the five officers killed in Thursday's deadly ambush during a protest rally, was escorted by police procession Saturday.

The procession accompanied the body of Brent Thompson on the 55 mile drive from Dallas to his hometown of  Corsicana.

People lined several over passes, hanging flags and holding signs of support.

Thompson, had been an officer with DART for 7 years.

The 43-year-old served in the Marines in the early 1990s.

Thompson had just married a fellow transit officer two weeks before Thursday's tragic events.

He was described by fellow officers, family, and friends as a family man who was always smiling.
