CHICAGO, Ill. – The Chicago Cubs are trying to break a ‘curse’ and make it to the World Series.
In 1945, William Sianis tried to get his pet goat, Murphy, into Wrigley Field during a World Series game.
The goat was denied entrance and the Cubs ended up losing that series. Since then, they have not won a World Series title .
Now, a tavern in Chicago has a new ‘Murphy’ that they hope will help turn the tide in the Cubs’ favor.
However, one celebrity isn’t buying into the superstitions.
On Friday night, Bill Murray was in the crowd during Game 1 of the Cubs’ playoff series against the Giants.
During the game, an old photo of Murray began circulating on social media, downplaying the curse of the goat.
This year? This year we don't need no stinking rally caps.
