OKLAHOMA CITY –  Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin sent a letter to the White House Monday complaining about the military operation at Fort Sill, Okla. that holds illegal immigrant minors.

In the letter, she called on the president to end the ‘secrecy’ around the caring for minor children from Central America who crossed the U.S. border illegally.

Fallin wrote that she wants an explanation from President Obama about reports that:

  • More than 1,200 illegal immigrants have been held at Fort Sill
  • The majority of the children held at Fort Sill will never be deported and will remain in the U.S.
  • At least 212 illegal immigrant children have already been place with sponsors in Oklahoma, where they are eligible under federal law to attend public school and receive emergency health services.
  • The federal government does not plan to close the Fort Sill facility, contrary to the administration’s initial promises.

Gov. Fallin ends her letter by stating that President Obama need to deliver an explanation of why the state of Oklahoma has to foot the bill for educational and health needs for a large population of illegal immigrant children while they are being cared for at Fort Sill.
