EDMOND, Okla. – May is National Bike Month and what an exciting time of the year!

To promote Bike Month, the City of Edmond and the Edmond Bicycle Committee are sponsoring two events to encourage bicycling in Edmond for fun, fitness and transportation.

The first event will be the 8th annual Bike to Work Celebration scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2014.

Biking to work is environmentally friendly, creates less wear on our roads while reducing stress and increasing personal health and fitness.

This year’s event will start and finish at the Edmond Festival Marketplace.

Join a short group ride which will gather at 7:30 a.m. to be ready to start the ride at 7:45 a.m.

The ride will go north on Broadway to Main and then east to University Drive and ride the new bike lane on University and then back to the Festival Marketplace.

At the Festival Marketplace, there will be the celebration of bike to work along with healthy refreshments and door prizes.
