YUKON, Okla. – Oklahoma authorities say they arrested a child predator who allegedly solicited sex from a 14-year-old girl.

Canadian County Sheriff’s Office officials say Brandon Downey, 30, of Duncan, requested the friendship of an investigator’s undercover profile in early May 2015.

Officials say Downey believed he was communicating with a 14-year-old girl from Yukon.

The man allegedly sent the girl multiple sexually explicit messages, asking the girl what her sexual preferences were, asking if she was into oral, anal and vaginal sex.

Authorities say he then told the girl what variations of sex he was into as well.

In June, Downey allegedly called the deputy’s undercover phone, and masturbated during phone sex with the female deputy, who he believed to be the 14-year-old girl.

Authorities say it took them several weeks to find Downey because he was living with his grandmother and was unemployed.

“I was real happy to hear we had Downey in custody because he had operated under the radar for so long, and was a little more difficult to track down than most of the child predators we’ve arrested,” said Randall Edwards, Canadian County Sheriff.

According to the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office, Downey confessed to the crime and told deputies he knew his actions were illegal.

He also allegedly told deputies that he intended to meet with the underage girl and act out “every sexual fantasy they had discussed online.”

“There’s no doubt in my mind that we’ve prevented an innocent child from being victimized by this man, and Oklahoma is a safer place for kids to live because of his arrest,” said Edwards.

Downey was arrested on Tuesday, July 7th and booked into the Canadian County Jail on three counts of Facilitating Sex With a Minor By Use of Technology.

His bond was set at $150,000.
