OKLAHOMA CITY – A man’s leg was cut off during a hit and run in S.E. Oklahoma City.

He is in a trauma unit recovering.

Right now, police are looking for the driver who hit him outside his home.

NewsChannel 4 spoke with the victim Wednesday evening.

He said he was in a lot of pain.

He wanted to speak with us on camera, but the hospital said, because of his condition, they could not let us go to his room or let him come down to talk with us.

However, we did talk to his friend who witnessed the gruesome incident.

She asked us not to identify her for safety reasons.

She said the father of three was sitting on his front porch when a truck hopped the curb and ran into him.

Police said the driver and passenger jumped out and took off.

“We heard a big crash. I run outside, and he’s laying under the truck. I put the truck in reverse. So, we could try and get him out,” the witness said.

The shocking scene continued to unfold.

“His leg was torn apart,” she said. “Blood just splashing everywhere from his knee.”

From the knee below, his left leg was detached.

“I didn’t know how to react. I was scared,” his friend recalled.

Detectives are still unsure if this was an accident.

“It’s kind of odd for a car to leave the roadway and drive up on a porch and strike somebody sitting on the porch. So, we look at all possibilities on something like this,” said MSgt. Gary Knight.

Fortunately, the man’s three girls were at a neighbors at the time.

Friends are just thankful they were not hurt and their dad is alive.

“The motivation to him is his three little girls. He’s the only support that they have,” his friend said.

The victim told NewsChannel 4 he knows the people who crashed into him.

We have not gotten their identities yet but hope to find out more from police soon.
