OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA -- These fingers first touched a keyboard as a five-year old.

What's amazing is that was only ten years ago.

Nathaniel Parker spends at least 20 hours a week at his piano now.

He has dreams of making a living on the stage as a professional musician.

But this isn't a classroom, and Virginia Campbell isn't a teacher.

"He's just amazing," says Campbell. "Everybody should come and hear this genius that we have in our midst."

We first met Virginia a couple of years back as she told her own story.

She was a prodigy as a girl.

But times were different and life got in the way.

"I gave my first concert in Europe when I was 62."

In the early 80's Virginia began hosting concert in Oklahoma City.

Over the years she invited some of the finest musicians in the world to play for her Piano Artist Series.

After listening to Nathaniel play this spring she didn't hesitate to put him on her schedule.

Parker says, "Over the Summer I've been attending piano festivals and workshops to get a feel for how what the level of international music is so I can prep myself to be at that kind of level."

He'll be the youngest pianist, by far, to perform for her show.

Campbell says, "I haven't heard a 15-year-old play like Rubenstein ever, I guess."

"It's a great honor," says Nathaniel of being chosen for the concert series.

The question of talent versus hard work might only be answered by the person at the keyboard.

Most of the time they work together.

One dies without the other.

They both die without the unbridled joy that comes from making music in the first place.

The 2016 and 2017 Piano Artist Series season begins with Nathaniel Parker's concert at the First Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City at 2:30PM.
