Gunman taken into custody at Georgia elementary school

DECATUR, Ga.- Police in Georgia responding to a call of shots fired at an elementary  school in Decatur say one person is now in custody.

DeKalb County Police were called to the Ronald McNair Discovery Learning Academy shortly after 12 p.m. Tuesday.

Images from 11 Alive’s helicopter showed students running from the building and police facing the front of the building.

11 Alive is reporting that one person is in custody.

School officials have not confirmed if any shots were fired inside the building.

However, sources say the man was armed with a gun and asked to speak with a local television station.

Fortunately, that person was immediately apprehended.

Authorities say all staff and students are accounted for and no one was injured.
