HOUSTON, Texas – Halliburton has agreed to plead guilty to destroying evidence related to the Gulf Coast oil spill.
According to court papers, Halliburton officials threw out test results related to the spill.
The maximum fine the Houston-based company will be required to pay is $200,000.
The disaster caused 11 deaths and is considered the largest offshore oil spill in our nation’s history.
Halliburton has agreed to make a voluntary payment of $55 million to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
