A Euclid High School player died after he sustained injuries during Friday night's game against Solon

EUCLID, Ohio – It is still a mystery as to what caused a 17-year-old football player’s death following a game on Friday night.

According to WEWS, 17-year-old Andre Jackson was injured during Euclid High School’s football game  on Friday night.

“It was a pooch kick,” said Euclid head football coach Jeff Rotsky. “He was going for the ball, and their guys were going for the ball, and I think he got kicked or kneed.”

The school district says Jackson walked off the field after the play and was taken to a hospital. However, he was later released.

Tragically, Jackson died on Sunday.

Now, family and friends are stunned by the sudden loss.

“He would be the first kid at study hall. He’d go for extra help. He was what you want to see out of a young man who wanted more out of life. And he deserved so much more. He deserved so much more,” Rotsky said.

At this point, his cause of death is not known.
