Americans may be surprised to find out the dozens of preventative services that will be available Jan. 1 without a co-pay or deductible.

A well check up is provided as well as diet and obesity counseling, depression screening and bone density tests.

All vaccines will be covered.

Women who 40 and over will be allowed mammograms every one to two years.

Colonoscopy screenings will be available for those 50 and older.

Doctors said today’s investment in preventative care should be returned in the form of lower healthcare costs and longer, healthier lives.
