With summer quickly approaching, many people are focused on their bodies and their appearance.
Now, officials are comparing women and men of today to our parents and grandparents.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the average American woman weighs 166 pounds, which is almost as much as the average American man in the early 1960s.
Over the same time period, men have gained nearly 30 pounds.
Experts say a lot of the weight gain is because Americans are eating less healthy food and are not moving around as much as they used to.
That means the average American is 33 pounds heavier than the average Frenchman, 40 pounds heavier than the average Japanese citizen and 70 pounds heavier than the average person in Bangladesh.
