OKLAHOMA CITY – Even though fall is almost here, the National Weather Service is warning Oklahomans to still pay attention to the heat.

On Monday, the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for central and eastern portions of the state.

Officials say you should take extra precautions if you are working outdoors or spending a great deal of time in the heat.

If possible, reschedule strenuous activities for the evening hours.

EMSA officials say they have transported five patients from the Oklahoma State Fair for heat-related illnesses.  Also, paramedics have treated 40 patients at the fair for heat-related illnesses.

The advisory will remain in effect until 7 p.m.
