OKLAHOMA – Much of the state is under a high risk of fire danger and local counties have already issued burn bans for residents.
Counties under burn bans:
– Canadian County
– Cotton County
– Pittsburg County
– Stephens County
Friday, the Canadian County Board of Commissioners acknowledged that an extreme fire danger exists in Canadian County.
Officials say any fire started under these weather conditions may become out of control.
Authorities say outdoor grilling is allowed for gas and charcoal grills that have a hood.
Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow said, “This wind has been a killer for us all week, of course. The forecast has come out for this weekend and it looks like Sunday is shaping up to be a round two of what we had this last Sunday.”
The burn ban will remain in effect until Feb. 17.
