SHOREHAM, N.Y. – Students at a New York High School are grieving after the loss of a football player, who died Wednesday night.
The junior collapsed after colliding with another player during a football game at Shoreham-Wading High School.
The teen had played football for a couple of years and was also a member of the lacrosse team.
The superintendent said the teen was a good student with a good sense of humor.
He was well-liked by students and staff at the school.
Grief counselors were available at the school on Thursday.
Sadly, this is the third student in the area to die while playing football this school year.
