SAND SPRINGS, Okla. – A high-speed chase in Sand Springs ended when an escaped inmate crashed a motorcycle Thursday night.

Earlier this week, Ronald Thomas Jr. escaped from the Jackie Brannon Correctional Center in McAlester.

He was seen running from the prison and jumping into a white pickup truck.

Thursday night, around 9:40 p.m., Thomas was in Sapulpa when a police officer recognized him.

When the officer approached the escaped inmate, Thomas sped away on a motorcycle and a pursuit began.

The pursuit ended when Thomas crashed the motorcycle into a vehicle near Sand Springs.

He was rushed to a Tulsa hospital with wounds to his head, arms and back.

Officials say Thomas is stabilized and expected to survive, according to KOKI.

He will face additional charges one he recovers from his injuries.
