EDMOND, Okla. – The Patriarch is right off of the busy intersection of Broadway and Edwards in downtown Edmond.

It’s a piece of history resurrected for the millennium.

“So this was the original sitting room in the house. So this is a room we want to be the center focus of the house,” co-owner Bryce Thompson said.

Most people know it as the Hunt house.

The 2,100 square foot home was built in 1903 by the co-founder of the Citizens Bank of Edmond, William Hunt.

Now two beer lovers are turning it into a craft beer bar.

“So that was really important to us from day one to keep the house as original as possible,” Thompson said. “This bar top is all original to the house so this was all inside the walls that we tore down.”

Light fixtures from the 20’s and original siding in the bathroom are all signs of its’ previous life.

“We want people to feel like they’re in a house and be comfortable like you’re in a house, and not just any house, your buddy’s house where you can put your feet up on the coffee table and just truly be comfortable,” Thompson said.

A large portion of the 48 beers on tap will be from local breweries.

“There are 12 to 13 breweries that a lot of people don’t know about, and so we really want to help promote that,” General Manager of The Patriarch, Michael Cotton, said.

Beer will take over the indoors and food trucks will park out back.

“Even if someone doesn’t love craft beer or don’t know a lot about beer, they might come out just because their favorite food truck is here,” Cotton said.

The plan to open The Patriarch in the next two weeks.
