NOGALES, Ariz. – A high-ranking American official is heading to the Mexican border to see the circumstances surrounding the children who illegally crossed the border unaccompanied.

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson will inspect border facilities in Arizona.

On his trip to Arizona, Johnson wants to get a first-hand look at the response to an influx in children across the border.

On Tuesday, Johnson told a House committee what is being done to handle the mass of underage immigrants, including hundreds being housed in Oklahoma’s Fort Sill.

There will be another hearing at the House on Wednesday.
