OKLAHOMA CITY - The winter months are upon us, and it's time to help out those who need it most.

Our friend, the late Brad Edwards, was driving to work three decades ago when he noticed kids outside in the freezing cold without coats.

We’ve been teaming up with the Salvation Army to provide coats to those who need them most ever since.

“It is clothing children, mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers each and every year with a coat, keeping them warm and safe, because no one should go without a coat during the winter,” said Maegan Dunn, Development Marketing Manager for the Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area command.

Every year, thousands of Oklahomans bring us their coats.

Beauty queens from Our Diamond Miss showed up at KFOR-TV studios with a big delivery.

We can't collect, clean and distribute all of the coats on our own.

Legacy Cleaners is our cleaning partner for the third year in a row.

“Just having the resources we have to chip in and help the people in need,” said owner Monte Turrentine. “That's what it's all about.”

Two Men And A Truck are supplying the trucks and donation boxes again this year.

Each week, they haul the coats around town between coat drop-off sites, Legacy Cleaners and the Salvation Army.

“At a point in my life, my kids needed coats. I depended on certain organizations to help my family be warm for the winter,” said Two Men and a Truck franchisee Adam Mecke. “And, now, I'm in a position where I can give back.”

You can create meaning in your own life by donating a winter coat to someone who needs it more.

There are lots of cold days ahead and lots of our neighbors desperate for a warm winter coat.
