EDMOND, OKLA. - An Edmond homeowner is giving thanks this holiday season.

Earlier this year Patty Hinson was scammed by fly by night roofers.

She contacted the In Your Corner team because she was out of money and desperate for repairs.

After our story aired, a group of generous Oklahomans came to the woman's aid.

“It's not just good,” she said. “It's not just better, it's miraculous.”

Handyman, Cliff Ellis, installed new windows and frames.

ABC Supply donated materials for the roof and Elliot Roofing ponied up the labor.

Patty said, “I mean that takes your breath away.”

She finally has a house she can be proud of. The roof doesn't leak and the air tight windows double as a sound proof barrier and energy saver.

“My heater used to run all night and my winter heating bills were like above $200 for this tiny place,” Patty said. “Our last cold spell we had, our heater never came on.”

Things are looking up for Patty, but let's not forget what got her into this mess in the first place. She trusted fly by night roofers who likely weren't insured or licensed.

Elliot Roofing spokesperson, Earl Stewart, said, “On your yard signs, vehicles, contracts, everything, that license is on there. Every reputable company in OKC now has that licensing.”

Meanwhile, Patty's giving thanks for the blessings in her life.

“It's made me want to do more for others,” she said. “It's made me so grateful and so happy.”
