INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A jury found an Indiana man not guilty of murdering his infant son after deliberating for six hours.
In 2014, Willie Wilson told officers that kidnappers confronted him and took his 6-week-old son, Delano.
WXIN reports that Wilson initially helped with the search, and the boy’s mother made an impassioned plea for baby Delano’s safe return.
However, Delano was never found.
Last year, Wilson was charged with murder in connection with the baby’s disappearance.
Prosecutors claimed that investigators found internet searches related to child abductions and missing infants on Wilson’s phone, including searches on the day Delano was reported missing.
WXIN reports that surveillance video showed Wilson walking by himself just a minute before he called 911 to report the kidnapping.
However, the baby’s remains were never found and there was no crime scene, causing jurors to question the prosecution’s case against Wilson.
On Friday, the jury found Wilson not guilty of murder.
