OKLAHOMA CITY – We’re learning more information about a crash that claimed the life of an Oklahoma City Thunder coach’s wife.
Tragically, she died from her injuries.
Williams is the wife of Thunder assistant coach Monty Williams.
The Thunder released a statement saying, “The Thunder organization has heavy hearts tonight with the news of Ingrid’s passing. Words cannot adequately describe how deep our sorrow is for the loss of Monty’s wife. Our thoughts and prayers are with Monty and his family, and we will support him in every way possible. We know the entire community of Oklahoma City has them in their prayers.”
On Tuesday, the Oklahoma City Police Department released its findings of the fatal crash.
According to the accident report, investigators say 52-year-old Susannah Donaldson was heading southbound in the left lane of S. Western Ave. at a high rate of speed.
Authorities say Lexuy Nguyen was also heading southbound in the left lane of S. Western, while Williams was heading northbound in the left lane of S. Western.
The accident report says Donaldson swerved left to avoid Nguyen, crossing the center line and hitting Williams’ car head-on.
Investigators determined that Donaldson was driving 88 miles per hour five seconds before the collision. Just one second before impact, Donaldson had accelerated to 92 miles an hour.
According to the accident report, the speed limit in the area is 40 miles per hour.
Donaldson was pronounced dead at the scene, and Williams died at a hospital a short time later.
Nguyen was not injured.
