OKLAHOMA CITY - A competition to pitch the next big thing - your imagination is your only limit at Startup OKC.

"It's going to give you an idea of exactly what it's like for entrepreneurs or startups. It gives you a taste of that startup life before you jump into it,” said Zac Starr, co-organizer of Startup OKC.

About 50 people will fill Innovation Station downtown.

And, it's intense.

The first night, each person has 60 seconds to sell their idea.

Then, they join forces to bring the top seven to 10 to life as a team.

"After that, you're going full out into this thing. Starting Saturday morning 6 a.m. Some teams don't even stop until 1 or 2 in the morning, and then they'll show up at 6 the next morning,” Starr said.

Ben Campbell got second place in 2014 for his idea call Bookwork.

"It connects bands with venues and concert promoters and booking agents,” Campbell said.

Something he knows a lot about after booking his own shows in a band and for concert series.

"Through playing all three roles in the booking equation, I kind of felt like the system was a little broken and wanted to create something that would make it a little easier on people."

He's now getting his MBA at OU and hoping to build out his idea even more.

Some people pitch quirky ideas for fun.

“I've seen anything from board games. We've seen apps. Some of it is just fun stuff, too. I mean we had one group that was trying to deliver alcoholic beverages by parachute,” Starr said.

A weekend to let your mind explore the possibilities.

"I think the best thing is just the networking of it. There's something really special about being in a room full of like-minded people all working toward interesting things, and you're pushing yourself."
